Paramount First Aid
Training that matters most
What Sets Us Apart?
Paramount First Aid is a brand-new small business that has launched in 2024.
We specialise in providing paramedic curated and instructed first aid training. We combine practical and relevant teaching (obtained from years of paramedic on-road experience) with the national gold-standards for first aid, as outlined by Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
Our course covers THE ESSENTIALS, the first aid that EVERYBODY NEEDS TO KNOW.
Our market research shows that time commitment and expensive course fees discourage individuals from pursuing first aid training. WE GET IT! Those days can be super long and an information overload.
Our course covers
This means that our course is NOT the same as the Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Provide First Aid courses that most first aid trainers provide. Its intentional!
The Essentials First Aid course is applicable to all Australian individuals! Our market research* has shown that whilst most people would consider first aid training as very important, the financial cost and time commitments are off-putting. The nationally accredited courses typically take between 3 and 8 hours, often with additional online learning as well as strict formative assessments.
Maniah's Story
What Motivates Us
Maniah Betham was a charismatic and generous teen. He was also a state swimming champion.
In 2014, while at his local youth group, Maniah had a sudden cardiac arrest that was caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. He was fifteen years old.
Despite immediate and effective CPR that was performed by his family, Maniah was unable to be resuscitated. There was no AED (Automated External Defibrillator) located at the facility or nearby, and so there was no opportunity to restart his heart before the paramedics arrived. We'll never know if an AED would have defibrillated Maniah and saved his life. However, it's possible it may have.
So often, we associate cardiac arrest with those who are elderly or chronically unwell and never expect that they can occur when someone is young and seemingly healthy.
Maniah's story is what motivated Leah to start Paramount First Aid. As an on-road paramedic, she has attended many people in cardiac arrest and firmly believes that their BEST CHANCE FOR SURVIVAL is if bystanders (i.e. family, friends, and even strangers) immediately recognise the need for and commence CPR, call 000, and apply a nearby AED quickly!
Our dream is to see every Australian equipped with the knowledge and skills to instantly recognise and respond to cardiac arrest (and other life-threatening emergencies) so that as many lives as possible can be saved.
