Office Staff

Even in a low-risk office environment, accidents and medical emergencies can happen. A well-stocked first aid kit and a designated first aid officer are crucial for responding quickly to a variety of incidents, from a slip on a wet floor to a sudden allergic reaction.

Under the WHS Act, employers have a duty of care to provide a safe workplace, and that includes having adequate first aid training. Our expert-led first aid courses in Canberra and NSW are designed to give your staff the confidence and skills to act effectively, ensuring your business is both compliant and prepared.

What First Aid Training do Office Staff Need?

For staff designated as first aid officers in an office environment, the most common and nationally recognised qualification is Provide First Aid (HLTAID011).

This comprehensive course equips them with the skills to recognise and respond to common medical emergencies, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), choking, shock, bleeding, and minor injuries. It's the perfect foundation for anyone responsible for first aid in a low-risk workplace.

To maintain their skills and knowledge, first aid officers should undertake refresher training. CPR skills, in particular, must be refreshed annually, while the full Provide First Aid qualification should be renewed every three years. Keeping up-to-date ensures that your first aid staff are confident and ready to act in an emergency, protecting their colleagues and fulfilling your legal obligations.
